Microsoft is no fool. It knows that the Xbox One is having a hard time keeping up with the PS4, so it's started diversifying by offering support to one of the more neglected sectors of the gaming world - PC gamers. Xbox Play Anywhere is the first serious part of that support, and Microsoft has revealed it's launching on 13th September.

In case you missed the big news during E3 last month, let me remind you. Xbox Play Anywhere is an initiative that gives people the option of playing games on both Xbox One and PC without having to pay for two copies of the game. Provided you're willing to buy a digital copy of the game, you'll be able to download and play select titles on both systems without coughing up any extra cash. Save files will sync between Xbox and PC as well, so you can pick up exactly where you left off when you switch between machines

Microsoft's long-term plan is to make sure all first-party titles are available with Xbox Play Anywhere. Kotaku UK has a full list of the compatible games revealed at E3, but you are safe in the the knowledge that the biggest Xbox releases of the next 12 months (like Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2, Crackdown 3 etc.) will be involved.

Play Anywhere functionality will arrive this summer on both platforms, bundled into the Windows 10 Anniversary Update and Xbox One Summer update.

Ugh, sounds like another tactic by Microsoft to get more people using Windows 10. I bet ya it won't be compatible with Windows 7.
