Got a busy day planned, but will find a little time to fire up the ps3 and give these a go. Sometimes the lower PP seasonals are harder to do than the higher ones.

Had a bash through this now, :gamer:
In the 07 cooper,

Rome is easy, even at 400pp
Eiger is harder, only got into the lead in the last third of last lap
Deep Forrest is easy, and again is doable at 400pp
Cote, is trickier, needed 440pp and only took lead last time leaving tunnel breaking for chicane
Eifel is ok at 450pp, doable at lower pp, but didn't try.

For a challenge have a go in 1.3i 93 cooper, I tried Rome, and even at 450pp, and 5 good laps I could only get to 5th, best lap a high 1.31...

Maybe one day the pp system will be a true reflection of performance.:problem:

I did the first 3 and thought they were all pretty easy even before I noticed I had comfort softs on. Then I tried the Vettle challenge again as I need to gold them all to get the platinum. Tried and failed to even get the silver :(

Which mini is the best to use, or how have you modified the ones you race in?

I think I pretty much maxed everything out , with stage 3 turbo, making around 168hp, then added a little ballast to lower pp back to 450, and also used it to make weight distribution 50/50, to remove some understeer.

I have it sorted now Mick,

I was running mid range turbo, at 167hp, with 77kg ballast (729kg total), and used my normal gear setup procedure for close ratios, maxing out at end of long straight.

I was determined to find the time your were faster than me by, so I went had a play, and double checked my settings.

Don't know why, but I thought I wonder what happens if I fit a high range Turbo.... and get this while the power went up the pp went DOWN.

So I set car up with high rpm turbo, 170hp @ 97.5%, and 702kg with 50kg ballast, (so remember 3 hp more and 27kg lighter), and lengthed my gears a touch.... that put me in the mid 1,28's straight off, with an easy win, and a best lap of 1,27.4.... so I gained 4 and a bit seconds a lap, which seems crazy to me.

Any ideas of why this may be on a postcard to polyphony digital please.

You see that happening on the Speed 12. I have 2, one set up for drifting and the other for track use. The drifting one has loads more power but a lower pp, but it is useless trying to use it for racing as all it does is spin the wheels.
So it is easier to get a faster laptime in the lower HP car, faster = more pp ??? don't know how they work it out but it cant just be by power and weight.

I could understand it if the cars were radically different in other ways, so if you had one with less power, but better suspension, transmission , tyres, etc then that would make sense.

But I can sit in the settings screen of the mini, and swap to mid turbo, and in the car details in top left of screen the power goes down and the pp goes up, and when I swap back to high range turbo, power goes up pp goes down. Everything else stays the same. I am pretty sure this is a bug and not intended behaviour of the pp system.

Yeah I know what you mean, its not as if its undrivable on one and not the other :problem:

I haven't managed to win at 370pp yet, missed it by 4 seconds on 2 occasions both times down to a scruffy last lap.

I'm looking forward to trying this in a bit, sounds like a good car/track combo, apart from the usual Eifel craptacular track thrown in...

I cheated a little, by using a race car. I had been awarded the Ferrari 330 p4 a few weeks ago, and I took it out for a spin. Won all races at 530pp without to many problems.. For anyone struggling I bet the old 2J would provide easy wins.

Think I shall repeat this but with a road car rather than a race car.... not sure what to try though.
