COMING NEXT WEEK TO PC, TARGETING CONSOLES IN NOVEMBER

In Plains of Eidolon you will set foot in a Landscape larger than anything you’ve seen in Warframe -- and you’re free to explore it on your own terms. Explore, discover, fight, and fly in ways you never have before.

    PLAINS OF EIDOLON
Welcome to the Plains of Eidolon. Sentients once fought on this battleground in an attempt to destroy a massive Orokin Tower that the Ostrons now call home. The Sentients' defeat is forever immortalized in the ancient graveyard that litters the Landscape.

Time in the Plains cycles the same for all Tenno. For every 100 minutes of beautiful sunshine, there are 50 minutes of haunted night.

    PROTECT THE OSTRONS
The Grineer have organized drilling stations and sprawling outposts throughout the Plains to excavate the technology of the Old War. Take missions from the Ostrons to fight Grineer during the day and clear out their bases, but be fast, as these Grineer will call reinforcements when they spot danger. As you venture deeper into the Plains the Grineer enemies will get progressively stronger, so come prepared.

    BECOME AN EIDOLON HUNTER
When night falls on the Plains, towering Spectral Sentients known as Eidolons ascend from the waters and wander in search of all they’ve lost. Small, deadly Sentient drones appear throughout the Plains to protect the Eidolons. Many Grineer will retreat to their camps in fear of the Eidolons and attempt to wait out the night.

Gather your fellow Tenno. You'll need to work together to take down these massive creatures. Only the greatest Eidolon Hunters that combine forces will reign victorious.

    TRAVEL BY LAND OR AIR
When you’re not sliding down hills or Bullet Jumping over mountains, you can summon your Sky Archwing at will to fly through the open Landscape. Spot and battle Grineer enemies from the sky and experience the beautiful scenery. Movement for your Archwing has been reworked to make it easy to fly through the Plains and engage enemies on the ground.

    EXPLORE THE PLAINS
Experience the great outdoors like never before! Craft spears and bait to catch a variety of fish species and return them to the Ostrons to make consumables. Mine for ore and rare gems that have been affected by traces of Spectral Energy left over from the Old War. Venture far into the wild to explore hidden caves that hold secrets of their own.

    CETUS
Use your new-found freedom to explore the bustling town of Cetus. Learn about its scavenger-inhabitants, the Ostrons, and their rich culture that revolves around the grotesque harvesting of biomechanical tissue from long-dormant Orokin Towers. Talk to the Ostrons in town to discover how the ongoing war with the Grineer has shaped their lives. Increase your Standing with the Ostrons by completing their requested missions and they'll share their culture and knowledge while granting you access to their wares.

    MEET THE VENDORS
Cetus' merchants have everything you'll need for time on the Plains. Want to immediately engage in battle? Pick up Bounties from Konzu. Feeling hungry for dinner? Go to Fisher Hai-Luk to unlock a variety of fishing spears and bait. A wealth of options are at your fingertips! Forge your own unique weapon, refine minerals to gems, customize your companions and Orbiter with all new Decorations, and buy paper mache Warframe masks for your Operator.

    [IMG][IMG]
    CRAFT YOUR OWN WEAPONS
At Hok’s Anvil you have the ability to design and build a new weapon using the Ostrons' component-based crafting. Zaws are modular weapons with interchangeable components that affect the appearance, functionality, stances, and stats of the weapon. They are forged using three weapon parts; a strike, grip, and link -- all of which are obtained by crafting Blueprints that Hok provides. Name your Weapon, improve it by adding Gilding, or earn Cetus Standing by pledging the Zaw to the Ostrons.

    [IMG][IMG]
    GARA
Shatter your enemies with the offensive abilities of Lotus’ newest glass-inspired warrior.
Gara's components can currently be found in-game while her Blueprint will arrive in a Quest later this month. Click here for more info.

I have been "healthily" skeptical (moany and pessimistic?) about this since it was first announced thinking that most of what was invovled didn't really appeal to me.

That may still be the case as I've only run a few easy multi stage missions so far, my PC account being vastly inferior to my PS4 one, but my initial impressions of the scope and combat of the Plains Of Eidolon so far are WOW !! The graphics looked superb, although I do have a very good PC and settings are all at their highest I believe, with the sheer size and distance being particularly impressive.

I'm not equipped enough for the night cycle, having not completed enough of the main questlines to enable certain gameplay necessities, but the day cycle has certainly left it's mark already.

Once it's released on consoles, sometime in November, and I get a chance to delve deeper into it's activities I may find it all just being further busy work just to allow you to do the new activities and just be more of the same but with new resources to distract you. Also the main point being the night fights against the Eidolons themselves which I'm not sure I'm going to enjoy as they look like they require a reasonable amount of co-ordination, skill, patience and teamwork.

But there also seems the distinct possiblity that this could provide a rather nice change of style and pace to what we've become used to in Warframe over the past few years and be a welcome alternative that provides enough variety and dynamic gameplay in a session without ever leaving the Plains Of Eidolon.

So for those Senoirs who haven't played Warframe in quite a while there's a reasonable possibility that this update could provide you with a few reasons to load it up again.

Supposedly the "button" will be pressed between 10am - 11am EST, so basically 3pm onwards for GMT.

Then however long to download, which I'm sure won't be too long because it's not as though many players are looking forward to this or that's it's the biggest update in Warframe history or anything.

Warframe opens the gates to the Plains of Eidolon in today’s update
Digital Extremes details how its game has evolved over the past four years since launch

When PlayStation 4 launched in November 2013, Warframe was the first downloadable free-to-play game available. If you thought space ninjas were cool then and you downloaded our game, you either know how much has changed since that launch, or are wondering why you’re still reading about Warframe four years later. Why, after nearly four years, is now a prime time to pick up Warframe? It’s simple: Plains of Eidolon is our biggest, most ambitious update ever. And we think you will love it. It’s also free…

So, just what is Plains of Eidolon? Let’s do a little rewind first. At launch, Warframe was a small beta game with just a few procedurally generated maps and a few Warframes. In the early days of Warframe, the developers would often describe it as the hyper sci-fi version of other established cooperative survival shooters. It was simple and modest, especially when compared to what it is now, but even so many were drawn to download it. In fact, after Netflix, it was the second most downloaded app on PS4. But it left a lot to be desired – both in content and direction.

During the next four years, Warframe grew. It has become a massive game packed with thousands of hour of gameplay with MMO and action-RPG aspects to it, but without ever falling distinctly into either genre. This cooperative action game for one to four players (and eight players in Trial missions) now offers 34 Warframes, each with their own unique aesthetic and Abilities, two significant cinematic quests (The Second Dream and The War Within), the addition of a new parkour movement system, a new melee combat system, a new Focus and Operator system, a fully reworked interface and Star Chart, a flight system called Archwing, a fully Remastered Earth tileset, dozens of new story quests, and a lot more.

If you have been playing Warframe over the years, either as a veteran or weekend warrior, you are familiar with traveling from your ship to planets and back to unlock and play missions. The procedurally-generated mission maps have a clear start and finish, with objectives that lead you through fixed and enclosed environments. Today, we’re launching an open-space Landscape called Plains of Eidolon on PlayStation, which enables you, faithful Tenno, the chance to explore an open territory like never before in Warframe.

You can approach the environment in any way you want. The Plains offer a continual asymmetrical day-night cycle with different activities in each timeframe. Would you like to hang out in the settlement town of Cetus with friends and visit the Ostron vendors? Craft your very own bone-crushing melee weapon (which we call a “Zaw”)? Burst straight into combat against new Grineer enemy types by raiding base camps and ambushing roaming squads?

Or are you more the exploratory type? Would you prefer to adventure through the landscape, experiencing the verdant, rolling hills, lakes and rivers on your own time? This offers more relaxing activities, like mining for resources from rock deposits, or chilling with friends and fishing for, OK, we admit, otherworldly-looking fish in the lakes and rivers.

Fishing seems to be a bit random, headshots, no headshots, doesn't matter.
Got stuck in the meditation emote while fishing.
    Reticle disappeared.
Enemy radar doesn't seem to work.
Mesa's regulators were permanently out but detached from her hands.
Can't start Saya's vigil, no map marker.

Other than that it's not too bad.

It's not random or headshots while fishing just you sometimes get critical hits. Which can be useful as only certain spears are good against certain fish.
Don't meditate while fishing. Not sure how you did, as if you bring up the gear wheel while fishing it brings up a second fishing only gear wheel instead. Basically you broke it @HERMAN_JELMET
Haven't checked with Enemy Radar personally yet but did you realise the map is massively scaled down from what you get in tile based missions?
Had that bug with Mesa too. Looks stupid I'm sure it will be fixed, maybe use a different frame? ;)
As for the quest, speak to KONZU (The last character before the Plains, who you probably can't see because he's surrounded)
Perform one bounty, go back and speak to him and you should then have the option to start the quest from him.

can't work out when I have completed a mission, there seems to be no quick way to leave the plains of eidolon other than going to gate to Cestus, and if your assigned team mates have gone awol you can't get out because it says you are waiting for them. Am I being a noob?

Not a n00b at all, there is no quick way but to return to the gates and this is why I don't go public on certain mission types and I think Plains is no exception because you are at the mercy of the other players and their whims/wishes. DE is looking into a way that this can be remided but haven't figured it out or implemented something yet. The game saves on completion of a bounty or incursion so you could just quit but would miss out on bonus XP.

I'm not trying anything higher than second tier bounties at the moment so you're quite welcome to join me sometime and just let me know when you wish to leave. Just message me ingame if you see me on the plains. I'm still doing a fair bit of fishing and mining at the moment anyway so you might not see a lot of action.

Have you talked to Saya too IN Cetus before heading out to the Plains? She should have a white waypoint marking her position.

Did you just check your inventory to see if it had appeared?

There was no inbox message I just had an extra Vectis and a new skin I could choose.
