A walkthrough for all of the main campaign missions in The Division, with strategies and tips for handling each enemy wave and boss.

Campaign missions generally follow a similar structure to one another, and the markers and waypoints are easy to follow. Detailed walkthroughs shouldn't be necessary, so instead we're just giving you an overview of each one: what enemies you can expect to face, where you'll find them, and specific boss strategies (where required).

The numbers of waves, numbers of enemies in a wave, and the exact enemy classes that spawn will depend on the difficulty level you select, your character level, and the size of your group, so you should expect some variation from our descriptions.

It's also worth mentioning how the difficulty levels work. On Normal, enemies will always be at least the level indicated, but if you or any of your group are above that level when you start the mission then enemies will scale. If you have a higher levelled player with you, it's best to temporarily kick them out, start the mission, and then invite them back.

On Hard enemies will either be a couple of levels higher than the highest-levelled player on your team or a couple of levels higher than the mission level (whichever is higher). They will re-scale if anyone joins, and so at level 8 you'll be fighting enemies at around level 10, but if you add a level 20 player to your group, the enemies will all switch to around 22 - even while you're in combat.

The Division - Hudson Refugee Camp, Grand Central Station, Rooftop Comm Relay, Queens Tunnel Camp

Hudson Refugee Camp

You'll be facing Cleaners here, so watch out for fire damage. There are a handful in the opening area, then as you pass through the subway be on the alert for proximity mines. You'll be able to hear them beeping from a fair distance, so either avoid them or take a shot with your pistol to detonate them before they get you.

There are another handful on enemies as you head through the tunnels, and then a few more will come out of the building when the door opens. The markers then lead to a large open area with another dozen or so hostiles nearby. When they're clear, use the Restock point if you need it, then climb into the boss arena. He's guarded by a few Cleaners, and will eventually retreat behind some cover at the far end. He can be easily sniped from the upper platform to the right of his position.

Grand Central Station
LMB soldiers occupy the subway, so look out for flanking tactics in open areas. Take out the twowho are standing guard, eliminate the next wave as they come through the barrier, and then head down. At the bottom of the escalator you'll find a few more (including a medic if you're at a high enough level).

Once they're cleared, head down again, Restock if you need, then head to the marker. There'll be an explosion, and then a wave of LMB will appear across the track. Defeat them, then follow through the collapsing tunnel, then up the ramp taking out the lone guard on the way. The control room ahead can be a little tricky, so you may want to aggro the soldiers then move back out to make use of the choke point. Once it's clear hit the switch and head to street level.

There now follows an uphill assault with a few snipers and a potential for medics to get involved. When you reach the top, restock and then hold your position from a wave of LMB and a Boss to complete the mission.

Rooftop Comm Relay
You'll be fighting Rikers here, so there's nothing too tricky to look out for. Clear out the group at the mission start point and then eliminate the reinforcements. Head upstairs, Restock, then take out the enemies that drop down onto the roof.

Climb the ladder, take out the sniper and her guards, then cross the walkway. Take out a few more enemies, then drop down the rope, cross the bridge, and head up again. Look out for proximity mines as you fight waves of enemies on your way towards your goal.

You'll now be defending the engineer from approaching waves. The first comes from the cell he was in, the second comes from the direction you approached from, a third wave spawns from the cell, and then the fourth and final wave (and a Boss) comes from the other direction again.

Queens Tunnel Camp
LMB soldiers are combined with automated sentry turrets to make the initial approach tricky. Take out the snipers and any other enemies from the mission start, then head behind the first turret to disable it. As long as you keep out of the red beam as it sweeps around you'll be safe.

Head down the ramp for more LMB enemies and another turret. The panel for this one is on the far side of the container it's sat on, so if you're in a group you may need to attract its attention while someone else sneaks around.

Once on the roof you'll need to deal with some snipers and engineers amongst the enemies. There's a ladder on the right of the building directly in front of you as you leave the stairwell, so climb up and taking out the sniper and engineer to reach the mission objective. Next, use your elevated position to clear the area.

Head down, eliminate the guards (and a possible medic), then disable the turret. Head through the tunnel, Restock, and then clear out the LMB from the server room. Taking a defensive position in the office is slow but safe, or you can risk a frontal assault - just stay out of the way of the turret.

Once you've destroyed the files head for the roof for a two-stage battle. Clearing the initial enemies is simple enough, but holding off in the second stage can be tricky as the waves spawn through random doors and leave you with nowhere in the area that's safe. The enemies increase in difficulty as the timer runs down, and a Boss appears with around 30 seconds to go. Keep mobile, fight in pairs if possible, and kill the enemies as quickly as you can to avoid being mobbed.

Once the timer's up, eliminate any remaining hostiles to complete the mission.

The Division - Warren Gate Power Plant, Police Academy, Broadway Emporium
How to complete the General Assembly, Warren Gate Power Plant, Police Academy and Broadway Emporium missions in Tom Clancy's The Division.

General Assembly

(This is the final Campaign mission and unlocks when all others are completed.)

Collect the explosives, clear the LMB, and then head inside the building. Clear a few more enemies, blow up the wall, and then fight off several batches as you head deeper inside. Once in the courtyard area you can either fight off the LMB that are there or just sprint for the control panel. Once reinforcements are on their way head inside the UN building.

Clear out more LMB - there's likely to be a medic here so deal with him first. Once it's safe activate the Echo then head through the door. Restock, and clear out the soldiers and Boss from the next room. Head towards the assembly room, taking out a couple of soldiers on the way, and Restock if you need it.

In the room itself snipers will take up position above the stage, opposite the entrance, and there will be a couple of medics on hand. Once they're clear, Restock and head for the marker, activate it, and get ready to fight multiple Boss enemies and a handful of regular soldiers. At the marker listen to the JTF officer, and then head outside for the final confrontation against a heavily armed and armoured helicopter.

Warren Gate Power Plant
The Rikers have taken over, and as ever, the mission opens with an area to clear. You can exploit a weakness in the enemy AI here if you fancy - as long as no-one walks through the gate, enemies will not enter aggro state and therefore won't return fire. They'll run about and shout abuse, but you can pick them off from a distance in complete safety.

Once the coast is clear, head inside and follow the markers. There are no enemies until you open the large folding doors. Next, proceed through the building, picking off the small groups of enemies and the lone Elite as you go. Once the explosives are disarmed you'll be under time pressure , and while it's a fairly generous window, you may still want to ignore the enemies in your current location and sprint to the marker.

Clear the area as quickly as possible, turn the valves, and clear the area again before turning the final valve to shut off the countdown. Now head through the doors for a multi-stage fight. There are quite a few environmental hazards in this room that you can use to good advantage to get rid of the three waves of preliminary troops.

After that, you'll face off against a Boss that's a bit more mobile than most: you may need to out-manoeuvre him, rather than simply wear away at him as he walks towards you.

Police Academy
Follow the markers, investigate the clue, and then fight off the wave of incoming LMB troops. Head up the elevator and fight your way through the building, but be careful when you reach the stairwell as enemies will attack from the floor above.

Travel up the next elevator and continue your trek until you reach the gymnasium. Listen to the Echo, then head to the security room and use the computer to trigger the final fight. There's a natural choke point here, but the LMB move quickly and there's a danger of being mobbed, so don't be afraid to fall back to the gym if need be.

Broadway Emporium
This mission takes place in a single area, and simply alternates between fighting waves of Cleaners and moving between mission checkpoints, before culminating in a straightforward Boss fight. There are a few supporting enemies and he's got an oversized flamethrower, but he stops to recharge it a lot and isn't very nimble on his feet - just make sure you keep your distance.

The Division - Napalm Production Site, Subway Morgue, Napalm Production Site, Lexington Event Center
How to complete the Napalm Production Site, Subway Morgue, Napalm Production Site, Lexington Event Center campaign missions in The Division.

Napalm Production Site

This is a Cleaner-infested mission. Start by shooting the panel on the napalm tank from a distance - with any luck this'll take out or at least seriously injure the two stood in front of it. Clear the rest of the area and then head to the next checkpoint where there are more Cleaners and five tanks to destroy.

You can exploit the enemy AI here by not entering the central area and instead killing them from a distance. When the area is cleared and all the tanks are destroyed, Restock and activate the generator. Clear the next area - but keep an eye out for the sniper at the far end - then activate the next generator. Restock if needed, activate the detonator and hold the position for 2 minutes to blow the truck. Finally, eliminate any remaining opposition.

Head through the building, destroy the next batch of napalm, then Restock and take the elevator towards the final confrontation. There will be a couple of waves of guards and then a Boss encounter. If you position yourself on the balcony opposite the room he's in you should be able to deal a fair amount of damage in the first few seconds. Once he's down, you can hang around to take out the stragglers or simply head for the exit.

Subway Morgue
Follow the markers and eradicate the little clusters of Cleaners as you go. Activate the first relay, then continue through another group of enemies to reach the second relay. When you reach the substation, pick up the breaker and put it into the relay. Two waves of Cleaners will spawn.

Once they're gone, head into the large area to be greeted by three more waves of enemies. The second usually includes a few rushers, so think fast. You've got to carry another circuit breaker now, and as you cross the room several waves will attack. You're limited to using sidearms while carrying the breaker, so you may need to drop it a few times as you go.

Once the breaker is installed, Restock and head towards the end battle. This follows the usual formula of a couple of waves of increasingly strong enemies, followed by a Boss. Once peace breaks out, step into the elevator.

Times Square Power Relay
Head into the subway and take out the Rikers, flip the switch, then head outside. Wipe out two waves of enemies, then head inside the hut and hit the switch. Now you need to find the van. It's a white one with a green logo on the side, located on the north west corner of Broadway and 45th, and guarded by a few more enemies.

Carrying the parts limits you to using your sidearm, so you'll probably want to put it down if you come under attack. Once it's connected it's time for the final fight, which involves the usual waves of enemies and a Boss - a sniper this time.

Lexington Event Center
Eliminate the Rikers patrolling outside, interact with the hostage, and then enter the building. There's a room with a few enemies inside, and they'll be followed by two more waves before you can secure the hostage. When you exit the elevator, you'll need to clear the roof before rescuing the final hostage, and then it's time for a mini boss fight against a slow-moving opponent.

Once complete, head down the other elevator and fight your way through another few waves of Rikers, then open the door and head upstairs for the final fight. It starts with a couple of Elites, and when they're out of the way the boss will appear along with the standard waves of support units. You have JTF backup for this fight which can help a little, but don't rely on them to cover your back! Eliminate all the enemies to complete the mission.

The Division - Russian Consulate, Madison Field Hospital, Lincoln Tunnel Checkpoint, Amherst's Apartment
How to complete the Russian Consulate, Madison Field Hospital, Lincoln Tunnel Checkpoint, Amherst's Apartment campaign missions in The Division.

Russian Consulate

This is a tough mission. LMB are everywhere as you work your way towards your goal, and when you reach the server room the confined quarters can make escaping from danger tricky - getting up onto the catwalks can help.

Clear the room when you get there, activate the computer, and then hold off against a few waves of reinforcements including healers. On the way from there to the library, you'll come across several more batches of enemies, and the library itself will spawn a couple of waves including a shield carrier who can really only be damaged from behind.

When everyone's dead, talk to the Russian scientist then use the laptop to open the panic room. Head down the corridor, and back outside for a final showdown featuring snipers, engineers, and a Boss who's quite nimble and partial to lobbing grenades around.

When everyone is down, examine the Boss' corpse to end the mission.

Madison Field Hospital
Once the JTF officer has opened the barrier, enter the hospital and make your way along the corridor towards an open area. There are several patrolling enemies here, many of whom will try and rush you. When they're defeated, several more will appear.

Once the area is clear, head up the escalator, but be ready for an ambush. Three or four more enemies will walk through the door ahead of your position. Activate the computer when you reach it, then follow the markers to reach the upper area via an elevator.

You'll eventually reach a wide balcony, and on the side opposite you'll see a few enemies that you can either try and take out from a distance, or make a dash and confront them head on. More will emerge in time, but eventually the tide will be stemmed and you can talk to the hostages behind the bar.

This will trigger another influx of foes to eliminate before you can move on to the roof via a ladder to face your first Boss battle. Fight off a wave or two of ordinary foes and be prepared to act quickly if they rush at you - close quarters combat can be awkward here.

After a while, the Boss will appear armed with a heavy machine gun and protected by shields. You have two options at this point. Either keep behind cover and slowly push your way forwards as you grind away at the Boss - whilst dealing with the smaller enemies - or ignore the boss until he uses up his supply of minions and then focus on him uninterrupted.

Either way, once he's down, simply eliminate any remaining enemies to complete the mission.

Lincoln Tunnel Checkpoint
You'll be up against Rioters this time. Head down the ramp to the car park and clear out the multiple waves. Taking out the sniper on top of the barriers and then assuming his position is a reasonably safe - if slow - strategy here.

Once cleared, head into the tunnel and take out a few more enemies and wait for the JTF officer to arrive. You now need to hold the tunnel while she defuses the bomb, so head back up the slope about halfway - it gives you room to retreat and a safety net if any get past you, but you can also see the enemies as they enter the tunnel.

Once the officer has finished, head inside the garage. When the door blows you'll need to retake the car park and make your way up the ramp to confront the Boss, a rather keen-eyed sniper. Clear everyone out to end the mission.

Amherst's Apartment
(Note that due to the fight in the final area we don't recommend tacking this solo.)

Head through the gate and take out the Cleaners outside the building. Once safe, head into the basement and follow the markers up the stairs where you'll come across some more Cleaners including an Elite.

Wipe them out, then follow the markers across the ledges and up the fire escape, eventually reaching a window you can climb through. Head up the stairs and search the apartment, then exit through another window onto the roof, keeping an eye out for wandering foes.

Drop down the bit of collapsed roof into the room below and head forwards to the final area. Due to a combination of snipers and area-of-effect flamethrowers this is a tough fight, but after a while an extraction chopper will arrive. While this is good news, it also adds time pressure, as the chopper won't hang around forever so hurry to the rope and interact with it to attach your cargo and then escape to safety before the Boss appears.

He's a sniper, so it's easier to ignore him and deal with the grunts first. He fires infrequently and is easy enough to avoid. Concentrate your fire on him when you're not engulfed in flames. When all the enemies are down, the mission concludes.

So that's why I was getting whupped when teaming up with @HERMAN_JELMET and @Sportsvee it took highest and then added on if we were playing hard.

Although for the higher player if we did do the lowest level starts mission and then you team up, would you then have members able to one shot NPCs most of the time?

It'll take her a week to accept the invite.
