Ohhh. Yesterday’s PS4 firmware wasn’t the one Sony was talking about when it promised some news.

The PS4′s next firmware update, version 1.75, will add 3D Blu-ray support, Sony announced on Twitter today. As the tweet below notes, the firmware update is due next week.

PlayStation said:
Coming next week: PS4 system software update 1.75 adds 3D Blu-ray film support. Woo-hoo!

This is better than yesterday’s boring little system stability update, and is presumably the one Sony was talking about when it promised PS4 firmware news soon. Still not exactly blowing our socks off, but at least it does something you can register with your eyeballs.

Thanks, DualShockers.

Im afraid so.

Took their bloody time though. My son is on the Xbone update preview. Microsoft have promised and delivered new functionality each and every month. What have we had? Sharestudio and the ability to mute your camera.

Makes you wonder if theyve only done this because the Xbone now does it. I did hear a Sony Exec say not so long ago that they were moving their focus away from 3D.

I like the fact that Microsoft are currently overdelivering on the functionality they promised before the console launched and Sony....well they STILL haven't got all the functionality in place that they promised.

I think Sony did this just because MS have. It's nice to get new functions and features but playing catch up or rushing stuff out isn't in Sony's interests. I think they are taking time on purpose so they don't salt the water. If they release some half finished crap they may as well sell up to EA :D
