I would wager a few quid that everyone with a PC has at some stage played Sim City. It started back in 1989 and the sucess of the first title led to sequels in sim city 2000, 3000 and sim city 4. Theres been a lot of spin offs with Sim copter, and The Sims.
Ten years since sim city four and Sim City is back, bigger and better than its ever been.
I cant wait to get my hands on it tomorrow. It looks fantastic and its going to be hard to prize me away from it. This latest version does have a multiplayer part in which up to 16 players can interact in a sim world.
So, does anyone else have it or is getting it?

Careful what you wish for. The Yanks are going nuts due to the DRM server issues. In fact 1000s have flooded Metacritic with negative reviews to **** EA over. Massive bit on Eurogamer here.

Yeah the DRM issues are with lots of games not just Sim City, the fact that some require you to be constantly online just to play is ridiculous. I'm getting this ace just not now as I'm slowly making my way through the games I already have :D

Come on Mick, you must have played at some stage?
Nobody really likes this online only gaming, but I played "anno" which has it and it worked OK. All the game saves are also saved on the server so you cant lose them if your hard drive crashes. Once the game settles down and there are enough servers it should be fine.
I pre ordered mine from Zavvi , meaning that I get the limited edition which contains the "Super heroes and Villains pack" for £29.99. Really happy with Zavvi's prices, but the latest purchases have taken 3 days to be delivered by Royal mail. Dispatched on Wednesdays and delivered on Saturdays.

I've never played it. I am obsessed with The Sims though. I did have something similar where you built holiday resorts years ago.

I'll stick to Sim City 4 that I picked up on steam for under £2 last year

Think the closest I have played to it is probably Theme Hospital many moons ago.
I dont really use the PC for gaming I bought the PS3 for that.

Can you play the game? I read that there are problems with EA servers.

It's only the US who are having the problem, Sum City is big over there compared to here.

I must have added Gus previously as I can see you playing on sim city. I started my first city after the tutorial, and no problems with the way it runs. I think we will have to be on the same server to play in each others region as the search could not find and of my friends .

You jammy gits. Apparently everyone whose played the game is going to receive an email from EA with the offer of a free downloadable game to say sorry for the poor servers.

Not too bad eh? Got to say thats pretty good customer service of EA.

About time EA gives something back after all the grabbing they've done so far.

Yeah, I saw that about the game, I believe Amazon amongst others have stopped selling it because of the problems. Cant see me downloading the free game, it will be a crap back catalogue thing no doubt, but its a fine gesture.
Personally I'm loving the game. The server problem dosen't seem too bad , I had one message about not being able to play as the servers were full. Came back an hour later and there was an update to download which said amongst other things that they were starting up another 8 servers. Got it and joined my sons region which is where I am now.
If anyone fancies starting a city in "THE NORTH" then there are plenty of slots available , post on here and we'll send an invite. My City's called Googleberg. Plenty of oil for export , no major problems as yet , learnt from my sons mistakes who's city's are full of crime and shit.

He should name the place Chatham. (if you've been there before you'll know why).

I was going to say Maidstone, but that has the title of the highest rate of teenage pregnancies in Europe, so the moniker doesnt quite fit the bill.

Hits you there doesnt it. Makes you proud.
