This week we'll be racing in 3 differernt European cars.
    No Racing tyres on them
    1960s up to 400 PP
    1970s up to 450 pp
    1980 up to 500 pp
We'll be racing around London, Milan, Rome, Spa and the twin ring courses (if everyone has the DLC) If not we'll improvise.
We'll also be experimenting with compulsary pit stops .

Changed to an Announcement which will automatically unannounce itself on Sunday (don't forget you can do this too, very useful to keep the upcoming events at the top of the forum).

Sounds like an interesting evening is planned, I look forward to hearing how it goes. :)

If the majority have the DLC I won't make this event not spending cash on a game I hardly play

Best not use the DLC for this one then, more players are better than new tracks!

Theres about 80 tracks so as Chrisspy says , no DLC tracks this week.
Also finding it hard to find a suitable 80s European car. Thay are all Japanese !
So far I can get my Audi Quatro up to 478pp, or could use the Volvo estate which might go to around that or downtune a Lancia Intergralle rally Car. I've a Lotus senator or cavalier thing which is 1990 , might just cheat and use that or change the rules :shh: when no one is looking.
Anyone else finding a decent 1980 European car hard to come accross?

European Cars from the 80's I have that are around the 500pp mark. All of these are in differing stages of tune from nothing upto full, but it will give you an idea of what to look for.

    Lambo Countach 528pp
    RUF CTR 548pp
Lotus Esprit 496pp (no stg tuning or weight reduction )
    RUF BTR 538pp
    205 evo 2 rally car 575pp
    205 turbo 16 507pp
    Delta S4 rally car 550pp
    205 turbo 16 rally car 535pp
5 maxi turbo rally car 542pp
    RS200 500pp
    RS 200 rally 550pp
Quatro 463pp (no stg tuning or weight reduction )
5 turbo 441pp (no stg tuning or weight reduction )

All of these are STANDARD models, doesnt look like there are any PREMIUM cars (not 80's European ones anyway)

For those who want to update the used car showroom there is a trick. If you select a license race and just click skip to next it supposedly passes a day in the game 6 times and the used car deals should all be new.

Got this trick from GT Planet but was posted a while back may have been fixed with a patch.

Also if you are after quick money, one of this months seasonal events is the Daytona oval in american cars pre 70s with 500pp. Just about any car set at 500 pp gets you 230.000+ for a five lap race, the other cars are so slow you cant lose.

Halo & I are provisionally signing up for this event having each bought GT5 Academy Edition. We'll be there providing it's delivered from Shopto on time and if you lot will be gentle with us as it'll be our first time on the game!

Brilliant, It really is fun in a room with other hopeless drivers.
Dont let the complicated menus put you off, Once you get used to it , it fine. Single player can become a grind, best to just use it as a tutorial to start with as you dont earn much money from racing. Later on the races in single player become too long and rather boring (IMHO).
Season events are the best things to practice in, as the rewards are big.
If you look on the community tab then click on one of our names you will see some cars that are shared, You can use these to do the seasonal events which are an easy way of getting money together to buy the cars that you want.
You should perhaps start a "new to GT 5" thread to ask the best ways to do things in the game.

I spent a wee while creating some tracks, Dirt and Snow only to find that you can only share ONE. So its shared if anyone fancies practising on it. Might use it for a rally race on Saturday if I can find a decent rally car. Just put some dirt tyres on a Lotius elise and its fun around the dirt and snow with it.
Doas anyone else have tracks made, if so pop one on to share as I cant see any SNRs sharing tracks.
