So we've had the PS3 which became the PS3 fat following the introduction of the Slim. After the Slim they introduced the Anorexic but even worse they've also now introduced the Bulimic version which has puked it's hard drive out to be replaced by 12Gb of internal flash memory.

The 12Gb Bulimic is released today, October the 12th to so far silent fanfare. The model itself does actually have an empty harddrive bay so can be easily upgraded with a 2.5" SATA drive and generally it specs the same as the recently released Anorexic. The real hitter though is the price. Lowest I've found it for is £160 (Zavvi) which considering it comes with a £40 controller isn't that bad a deal especially when 2.5" SATA drives can be picked up for peanuts.

At that price it'd be a perfect replacement machine should anything happen to your existing one.

I dunno, I think it's a fairly sensible solution, rather than them charging an extra say £40 to have a specific sized HDD that's available at the time of making the system they skip that entirely and allow you to spend £40 on a drive when you buy it and have one that's bigger than what you would have been supplied with had they installed one.

I'd certainly far rather this route than the Xbox route of paying something like £120 for a 120gb HDD when you can pick up a 120GB for less than a tenner (figures made up, but you get my point)

They could always have a disclaimer "People who don't have a clue should buy the more expensive stupid proof version"

Horribly Sony seem to be opting for the unscrupulous option calling it "family friendly" and releasing the 12Gb unit bundled with an eyetoy, PS move and Wonderbook or Skylanders Giants. Neither of those boxes have visible disclaimers on them. :?

It's the same issue as the Xbox 360 Arcade has...albiet worse as it has 12gb not 4gb....and you can install ANY drive in it rather than a one marked up 4000% in price.

I saw one the other day. To use a famous film quote, "you are one ugly mother****er". Sony have taken something sleek and beautiful to team up with Chad Valley to create this munter of a console

Hey, very much a hot or not console, I've seen others lament upon it's fine lines and simplistic beauty. Still it fills a whole in the market I suppose and does pander very well to the pockets of the more technically minded.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder though.

I actually quite like it's appearance, it reminds me of the PS2.

I bought the super slim after my fat PS3 got the YLOD. It's a really nice looking PS3. My only negative point is the noise of the disk spinning. My 500gb version cost me £199 on Shopto eBay store but is now £219.

I wouldn't mind a new super slim PS3 but my old fatty is still alive and kicking.
