Sony Online Entertainment's MMOFPS Planetside 2 heading to PlayStation 4, the developer has announced via its latest trailer.

Joining its ranks is SOE's MMORPG DC Universe Online, which premiered back in 2011 and is also on PS3.

EG-contributor Richard Cobbett was really fond of Planetside 2. "As a mix of shooter and MMO, PlanetSide 2 is nothing short of a triumph: not quite the best of both worlds, but certainly the best attempt anyone has ever made to fuse them together," he wrote in his 9/10 Planetside 2 review last November.

Our John Bedford was less than enthused about DC Universe Online, however.

PlanetSide 2: New 2014 content, subscription changes and updates detailed
Big plans for SOE's free-to-play sci-fi FPS

Sony Online Entertainment has detailed numerous developments and changes planned for PlanetSide 2 players in the coming weeks and months.

Creative director Matthew Higby outlined plans to alter development processes to release "smaller and more focused" title updates from now on.

"Over the last few weeks we have been reorganizing our internal build and development processes in order to allow us to expedite builds to live with the goal of updating the live game more often and more regularly," Higby said in a statement.

Higby promises this will allow the studio to "more rapidly respond to bugs & balance issues in the game without having to rely on hotfixes" as much.

"Each individual update will be smaller and more focused, with fewer moving parts that can break, which we hope will greatly decrease the number of bugs being introduced when we update," he added.

Additionally, a change to premium subscriptions for the game will see players offered the ability to select one item worth up to 2000SC each month, instead of the 500SC previously gifted to players monthly.

"The goals of our plan are very simple. Let players buy anything they want up to 2000 SC," explained SOE CEO John Smedley in a recent blog post.

"We wanted to let players get some of the larger items on the marketplace. People complain the other way on this all the time - they complain that the 500SC isn't enough for them to buy enough stuff. So we thought this would be a positive change," he added.

Smedley went on to reveal that the firm is "likely going to move forward" with a plan to make a subscription to any SOE game valid for its entire portfolio (on PC only). "That means if you subscribe to one of our games you are a subscriber to all our games," he said. SOE's monthly subscription charge is $14.99.

Lastly, the studio released a video teasing new content in development for PlanetSide 2 for 2014. See it below:

Free-to-play MMO FPS PlanetSide 2 is scheduled to arrive on PlayStation 4 in early 2014. The PS4 version will not be cross-compatible with PC. SOE's DC Universe Online was a PS4 launch title.
