Heard reliable news that KZ1 will be available via PSN soon, without having to go to Game and buy the whole trilogy pack. Re-mastered in HD with full trophy support. I might as well get involved :D .

Yeah thats the route Im taking too. Ive got Killzone 2 & 3 already, and Im only missing some DLC for KZ3 so paying £30 for the missing DLC and KZ1 seems a bit steep. Cant wait to play this classic again. Im guessing theyve turned off the multiplayer modes? Still, cant look a gift horse and all that.

Now all we need are SOCOM 1-3 with their multiplayers combined in to one super HD package

Moved to Shooting & Action Adventure section.

Bloody Allies putting stuff in the wrong place ;)

I've not decided on whether I'll pick this up. I've still got the original disc and a PS2 so could play it on that, so it'd be for the HD and trophies. The question is whether I'd actually want to play the story again especially as I have enough other games on my shelf of shame to complete.

Hmm, not sure about that, there's be a national shortage of tissues caused by some people if this did happen. Personally I wouldn't buy it, it was good in its day but I think that's now long gone (though I know some would disagree!)

Ive actually sold all my PS2 and PS1 games now. Got a bloody good price too. Ive still got a PS2, and I know the PS3 plays PS1 games as well, but I just didnt play the buggers any more. Like Martok, I have a rather large shelf of shame (thats one full of unplayed games and not porn films ;) ), and it was my nagging wife who convinced me to get rid of the lot. We're running out of space in our house, and our bedroom already looks like Steptoes living room (ie full of random assorted crap). Thats why I bought the Metal Gear, Splinter Cell, Tomb Raider, Ico etc etc collections. I AM a trophy whore, admittedly, but I also get to keep and play the really good ones. So I was well chuffed when they announced Killzone 1 is to be released as a standalone.

I liked the SOCOMs, and I'd be curious now to see how the single player has stood the test of time. I never did manage to complete 1 or 2, and now Im a bit of a more rounded gamer I fancy my chances. I got Halo Anniversary when it came out, which is a remastered version of Halo 1. I never managed to complete that as I found the ending too hard, but I did it on my first try this time round!! :o  Halo Anniversary had a really neat feature where you pressed a button and the game reverted to the original game. The game itself was reskinned and running two versions concurrently, which you could seemlessly switch between, and it really did highlight the graphical improvements made.

Anyway, a big :1thumbup: from me for remastered PS2 classics!! All I want now is Judge Dredd and Rogue Trooper and I'll be as happy as a pig in shit.

Got Killzone. God it looks so dated, and the gameplay seems more akin to Haze. Very weird playing it again. It really highlights how far 2 & 3 have come. Play for nostalgia, but don't get it expecting a watered down Killzone 3

When you say got, do you mean the PS2 version or the new HD version? Did look for it on the new store, but the new store didn't seem to have any new content on it last night. Also nothing to show where the plus stuff is?

The next Killzone campaign I want to play as a Helghan far more fun, plus hopefully I'd get to shoot the crap out of the rather annoying Rico  .

What do you think Shroud?

I was playing some more this morning. Its all starting to come back to me now. Shroud, play Battlefields. Killzone may have lost the multiplayer side, but Battlefields is split screen local multiplayer (with bots too if you want). All the old maps are there, with the game modes. That really was a trip down memory lane :grandpa: I remember being beaten by ARS a few times on some of them maps!!  I remember getting this awesome long distant rocket kill to take out one of the objectives, just before the timer counted out. Ah, happy days....

Only played a little so far on both campaign and battlefield. O the memories :D , enjoying it. Yes the graphics aren't quite KZ2 or 3, but not too shabby either. Will look forward to completing this again :D :D :D .

I sold a box full of Xbox games, all FPS and 2 original xbox's. One black one and one that I put a clear cover on. God I wish I had of kept them. I still have a Puss2, I still play TT Superbike now and then. It also has the North West 200 road race circuit where I live at, so I can do burnouts outside my local petrol station, without being arrested :D

Sometimes I wish I kept them, but theres PS3 games I havent even played yet, and I really couldnt see me playing any of these again. I like trophies and achievements, and games just seem pointless without them. Silly I know.

The sad thing I find is, I play old xbox games sometimes because no-one has released something on the current generation that hits the same spot. So i play ancient games like Operation flashpoint which has lousy graphics, but it does open world better than anything else out there. The PS3 operation flashpoint games completely missed the feel of the original.

So folks, is Killzone HD worth the £7.99, or do I keep my cash?
I'm a confirmed Killzone fan and in fact it was playing the demo for Killzone 2 when I first got my PS3 that truly made me fall in love with the console.

I'd say yes Les. Especially if you havent got the PS2 anymore, but even if you had the HD shine and trophies still make it worthwhile. The graphics look a bit dated in some sections, but the gameplay is still top notch. No multiplayer, but you can play against AI bots. For the cash, it gets a big :1thumbup: from me.
