I've been trying not to succumb to the temptation for a good few months but at the weekend i got myself a PS4.
I thought I might get a bit longer out of (my sons) PS3 but since christmas i've seen most of you lads and lasses get them and I felt a bit left out of things.
I really miss playing with you chaps online and that the main reason for me ditching the PS3.
The main reasons that has been holding me back have mainly been finanital, but my missus decided to get herself a part time job (starting today) , so there is now going to be a small amount of disposable income each week.
I picked up a "Barely used PS4 " that someone fairly close to me had listed on eBay on Saturday. It came with BF4 and Killzone plus a dual control charging unit. I got it for £340 which I reckon is a over a hundred quid less than it would have cost the lad at Christmas. The games used would probably be £50 at todays prices, not sure what the charger would cost.
Anyway, I set it up and i'm delighted with it, only 9 months guarantee but they seem to be problem free.
It's pretty much the same graphically as my PC , using warframe as an example its pretty much impossible to tell them apart. The sound is a heck of a lot better, when played through my soundbar or Surround headphones which are now supported my Sony .
I am still hoping that my Logitec Steering Wheel will at some stage get an update to get it working on the PS3.
When I got the PS4 I decided to sell ALL of my PS3 games and Accessories, .
This means that I wont be around on GTA V anymore, @pede2010 , @Pezza1971 @Spruijt @zoob @clarkyspeaks and of course @Alien_Chick and Tony. But to be honest most of us stopped playing it about a month ago.
When GTA started dying off a bit I tried BF4 out on my PS3 and got pretty much hooked again. I've looked around for guys to play with but most of the seniors seem to be on BF4. I only managed a few games with the Newson, OAP Gam54 , his son and Asylum's son and its not the same playing on your own.
Connection wise BF4 seems a lot better for me than BF3 was. Those that know me know that I have been a laggy bastard for a couple of years now, and I wont be able to get a faster broadband speed till MAY when Openreach update us to super mega fast Uber speeds in our estate. So If you see me jumping around all over the place at the moment, it will be short lived.
I had a few goes on Killzone and really liked it, However that was just on the new recruits servers where the Noobs that don't spawn camp play.
I'm hoping that I can get on with one or two of you in an early evening session and get some pointers about playing with the big boys and have a chat about loadouts, equiptment, maps, tactics etc. I never was much good on the old killzones but will try to stcik things out and become better at this one as it'll be one of only 3 games I'll be playing until watch dogs comes out.
Will I need an invite for the BF4 battlelog clan and the Killzone one?
The other game that i'll be on is Warframe, It dosent look like its impressed many? I rather liked it on PC, and it seems pretty much identical on PS4. Is anyone into it?
Are there any other free to plays , other than Dead Nation that anyone plays? I dont really fancy that much.
As I was saying earlier, i'm selling all my PS3 stuff, and have made a canny start already .
We put some old controllers on Amazon on Saturday night and they sold straight away. £19 each for the 2 x Dual Shock pads that I had and £16 each for the two Sixaxis pads that I had lying around. If you have them spare, then get them sold , they seem to be fetching good money. I also sold my GTA V straight away (again on Amazon) along with two other games, so I've nearly a hundred quid back already. I still have my sons console to sell along with another dozen games, Buzz controllers, Play TV thingy and PS TV remote and of course my broken PS3 which suprisingly still fetch a small amount of money.
I am thinking of getting a camera as that playroom looks quite good and I can then use my move controller for something. I am in two minds about selling the Move thing Navigator and Sharp Shooter as they are selling OK on Amazon. Do you think they are worth hanging onto?
Anyway, hope to see you online sometime, I do get on later on Saturdays but as you know, i'm off to bed when a lot of you come online weekdays.
