Yesterday I finished all my available dailies and weeklies with my hunter (except PVP, you know it's not for me) and decided to pick up my ol' warlock again.
I was hoping it would be fun doing another class, but it really just made me realize it's actually just the same old thing yet again.

We're about three weeks in now I think and - besides the raid which I only got a hint of - I've seen everything numerous times now and yes, I feel it's getting a bit boring.
I know this game's about the grind, but I'm not enjoying that grind as much as in for example Diablo.

While I like the game as a shooter, I think I'll be playing it a bit less for the coming time.
Too bad, since I was hoping it would carry at least until Dragon Age: Inquisition (coming end of november), but I guess I need to find something else to fill the gap. Perhaps Shadow of Mordor, or level up a new Diablo 3 character just for a change of scenes.
Still, I got over 80 hours in so far, so I can't complain and the expansions are included, so there'll be some things new to do in the future. Had quite a few games which had way lower playhours for that price.

So if you see me less in Destiny, that's why.

I know where you're coming from. I don't do a lot of the vanguard stuff as it's the same old same at a higher level. If it wasn't for the crucible and the social element I'd have wandered off to something else by now. I have Diablo III, for example, but haven't put that much time into it as hardly anyone on my friends list plays it and I get bored playing games on my own after about an hour.

I've been getting the same feeling too. My Warlock is now level 27 with maxed-out Voidwalker subclass and all legendary armour, so it's just a grind at the moment to get any further. Ascendant shards are proving elusive. I'm sick of the Venus strike which I've had to play numerous times this week already for various bounties. When I got another exotic weapon bounty, this was the first thing I had to do - again. I'll now leave that until the weekly strike changes tomorrow.

Currently I've started another character (Hunter) and I'm OK so far with playing the story again. At least I always get to do this with @HaloJ which makes it more fun. I do wonder if I will be playing this in the long term though. I really want to like the game, but there is just too little content currently which is why things are repeated so much. Having just seen the leak about the upcoming expansions, it doesn't look like there is a lot of extra stuff being added either, plus it's going to be around £35 too.

I just want to finish the story missions and put it down for a while. I'm bored of it.

I was thinking of getting this. Should l not bother? Should I get Borderlands the presequel instead? Note: I'm still on PS3 and doubt I'll be gaming more than 5 hours a week, so games will last me longer.

I'm still enjoying it, but I've only played about 24 hours so far. There are things that annoy me, but I'm sure it will pass soon. The social aspect of the game is good, so I would recommend it if you know people who are playing it on PS3.

Theres easily enough content to keep you going for 20 hours. After that you might not be arsed. But 20 hours from a game is good.

Youve got to laugh at Bungie claiming this game was going to have a 10 year lifecycle. It hasnt even lasted 10 weeks

It's worth pointing out that I haven't really touched the PVP side of the game yet, so I imagine that that will extend its life cycle for me.

20hrs from a game is a bit naff, I'm at about 300hrs for warframe and that was free. BF3 and BF4 are also well up there.

A good game should cost you penny's per hour of play when you work it all out. Thats my theory anyway.

Disappointed with watch_dog and destiny has not got me excited at all. Both have put me off gaming at the moment to be honest.

For the record I have 35 hours recorded so far on destiny, that's not a lot by my standards.

I've got one character at level 28 with definite sight of max level 30.
I've got another at level 22-23 or so and another at level 12.

I understand where people are coming from and I do think it's going to be a grind getting my other characters up to level 26+ now but i'm still enjoying it, there's a lot of repetition in there but I'm a sucker for a challenge and the increased difficulties on the harder stuff for me makes the game more interesting.

Having enemies that move about quicker, making for harder critical hit targeting and having varying shields to deal with seems to give it an extra bit of life for me and obviously i'm at Raid level now and have had a try of this with a couple of us here.

I think once the Raids become monotonous that'll be me done with the game to be honest, and given that it looks like there's only a single Raid included in the core game that's gonna be sooner rather than later.

I've enjoyed the game immensely, it's been a great break from BF4, I'd even say it's been good value for money compared to most games I've bought over the last 4 years or so.....am I willing to pay for the DLC?....currently no.

I do think if you can get into a group of 3 that play this regularly together, at level 26+ it can be a really nice experience, even though you're effective repeating everything, you've gotta work together to beat the harder levels and you're rewarded well with coins to buy exotics.

I've still to finish Borderlands 2, which I'm sure you can pick up cheap.

It's not that I don't like the game, because I do. It's a really good game and i've had som epic moments in there. Problem is, I kind of rather play Battlefield.

Maybe it's all the grinding that's annoy me. I don't give a f*** about all the strange things you need to get and in which order you have to do things to get it. I just want to shoot stuff and get rewarded in a simple and understandable manner. In Destiny it's all like woodoo magic to me...

I did not like Nick Caves side project Grinderman either.

Lol, this is probably why I prefer the crucible. You basically just shoot shit and capture control points.

Someone in the comments section of Eurogamer has posted a link to a message board where an all edged disgruntled Bungie employee has supposedly spilled the beans on the development of Destiny. They claim that there was a split between higher management between those wanting something like a mass effect style mmo and those wanting something more accessible for a wider audience. The fallout of this was the loss of some of the creative talent and the ditching of large parts of the original vision. Originally there was supposed to be an introduction for each race, in the end the exo one was used a stand in for all three. As suspected a lot of content was removed, so it could be retooled for the new creative direction and the story was heavily curtailed and re edited to what we have now.

Large amounts of finished cut scenes and dialogue etc was also excised apparently, for example the speaker was supposed to have a much more prominent role. The Long and short of the article is that Bungie decided late in the day to change the direction of the game, they couldn't do everything so they taped together a plausible story from the remains which is very different from the original vision and we have the results an almost featureless story and very little content.

Of course this is all unverified and although potentially plausible , is to be filed under speculation and conjecture.

If this is the case then 'Designed by committee' once again rears its ugly head to knacker things up
