I want to know who would be interested in doing a team competition, I will give out more details later once I have finalised things but just want to gauge interest first. Things like number of teams will depend on how many want to take part.

I had been wondering about some sort of competition for us on GT5. GamingOldies have run several championships. I think theirs is based on everyone using the same car in a championship of 10 races (1 race per week?) using the same tyres and I think that tuning and mods aren't allowed. It also appears that folks each have a joker that they can play in one of the races which will effectively double their points (a la It's a Knockout).

I'd be interested to know what your thoughts are for a competition.

Provided it's not going to take up oodles of time in preparation each week then I'd be up for this.

I was thinking along the lines of what you said GamingOldies do.
Same car for everyone, same tyres, no mods. Removes all of the setup messing about time.
I have an Idea for a championship "board" as well which will make more sense when I have done it than it will to try and explain it.

So, would it be a group of drivers against another group of drivers all using the same car and set up?

OK, here goes are you paying attention.

I think we have enough for 3 teams even if there is only 2 per team thats fine.

Each team will have its own colour (red, white or blue) the idea is for each team to makes it way to the center of the playing board (see below)
Lets say that Red start, they nominate which numbered hexagon they wish to "capture", white would pick then pick a track from a list, and blue would pick the car to use from another list (I will make a list of cars soon).
After the race points are totalled if red win they capture the hexagon (it will turn red), if not it stays the colour it was.
If red picked, for example, picked number 2(white team) and they won capturing the hexagon, the white team would have to win a race on number 2 to turn it back to neutral ground before they can proceed to head for the center ( number 7).
This gives all teams the option to either try and block opposing teams path to the center or to just go for the center.

The center is a race at the NurdyRing, with the car being picked by the team going for the final win.

A note on the scoring, only the first two drivers from each team will qualify for points. So even if there are more than 2 drivers in some/all teams the points will only go to the top 2 drivers from each team.

That makes sense to me but probably not to anyone else, any questions/comments :?: :?:

    i'm utterly confused.

I'm only posting to say I think it's great that so much effort and enthusiasm is being generated in GT5 (even if I think it's poo). It's great to see some diversity here.

I think I understand the concept (I'm clever, you see ;) ). However, I do wonder if it'll all end up in stalemate.

Let's say Red goes first and here's a possible scenario:

    Red - picks 1 & wins
White - picks 2 and wins
    Blue - picks 3 & wins
    Red - picks 4 & wins
White - has to pick 4 really, or Red could be in for a shot at the centre. Let's say White wins, the hexagon goes back to neutral.
Blue - if white hadn't won 4 then they'd pick it. As it is, they pick 6 and win.
Red - has to pick 6 and wins.
White - picks 5 and wins
    etc

So potentially this could go round in circles for some time before someone hits the centre. It could drag on for some time before someone wins.

Do the points in the races heading towards the centre count towards some championship or are they just to work out which team win the race? If the latter then presumably it doesn't matter how many races you win or lose, it'll ultimately come down to the final race in the centre with the only difference being whether or not you get to choose the cars for this.

I like the idea though I wonder if a modification on this is needed? Would something a bit more like the Blockbuster board with teams trying to get from one side to another in a line and hexagons being won/lost permanently by teams work better? Hmm, that sounds complicated. Maybe just a straightforward championship for individuals or even teams, with race positions receiving a point allocation?

Maybe I haven't grasped your suggestion after all...

Funny enough I have already started to draw up a board  I have been having a rethink and I reckon it will be easier to keep track of everything using that kind of board with 2 teams.

This should be better. Each number as a different track.
