Epic Games have made a post about protecting your Fortnite account (you have to have an Epic account as well as your PlayStation account, they aren't one and the same). It seems that some accounts have been compromised due to people using the same passwords on multiple sites and also some people have fallen for fake websites that claim to provide you free V-Bucks or the ability to share or buy accounts.

It's worth a read of this, whether or not you play Fortnite:

Protecting Your Epic Account

I previously covered this in my post about online security here:

Time to re-think your online security?

and it was covered again here:

In light of all the hacking scandals...

If you're still using weak passwords or the same passwords on multiple sites, do think about doing something about it before it's your accounts that are compromised.

Hey Fortnite Community,

Fortnite Battle Royale is coming to mobile devices! On phones and tablets, Fortnite is the same 100-player game you know from PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac. Same gameplay, same map, same content, same weekly updates. Starting Monday, you can sign-up for the Invite Event on iOS. Support for Android will be coming in the next few months.

In partnership with our friends at Sony, Fortnite Battle Royale will support Cross Play and Cross Progression between PlayStation 4, PC, Mac, iOS and eventually Android. This means players across devices can squad up with friends and play together.

We believe this is the future of games. The same game on all platforms. Console quality graphics and action. Play when you want, where you want.

Starting Monday, March 12, sign-up at for the Invite Event on iOS. Email invites will start rolling out soon thereafter. When you are invited, you will receive an email with a link to download the game from the App Store. If you don’t receive an invite right away, don’t worry. We’ll be adding more players regularly over the coming months. Players who receive invites from Epic will also get friend invite codes to share with others. To participate, you will need an internet connection and iOS 11 on at least an iPhone 6S/SE, iPad Mini 4, iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, iPad 2017 devices.

Stay tuned for more details on Monday. See you on the Battle Bus,

We’re proud to present the Combat Pro control scheme for Save the World! Here are the PS4 & Xbox One images (explanation below):

For those of you who have been playing Battle Royale as well as Save the World, you've probably seen that the default control schemes are significantly different. One of the critical features in Combat Pro is switching weapons and building pieces on the controller bumpers.

In Save the World, the typical control schemes require the player to let go of the aim stick to press (Triangle or Y) to switch weapons or building types. Now, since players won’t have to remove their fingers from the movement and aim sticks, Combat Pro for Save the World will allow players to stay in the fight while selecting what they’re using next.

It’s also critical for players to be able to use their hero-specific abilities amidst combat. For example, it’s critical to Ninjas that they be able to use Shurikens and Dragon Slash in battle. To preserve the ease of activating hero abilities, they all use one of the bumpers in combination with the opposite bumper or trigger. Those three combinations are easy to press since they don’t require the player to press both a bumper and trigger using the same hand. Since you can press and hold the bumper before pressing the opposite button, it should be easy to use any ability without accidentally switching weapons, zooming, or firing.

One other small advantage of the new control scheme is that you can tap (Triangle or Y) in either mode to toggle to your harvesting tool, rather than having to hold it. And tapping (Triangle or Y) on the harvesting tool switches back to your last weapon for a fast way to re-enter combat.

If you want to use the new control scheme, select Save the World, then go to the Settings menu and choose the Controller tab. You can switch the Configuration to Combat Pro to give it a try.

We hope you enjoy this control scheme! Please give us feedback as we want to iterate and improve this over time.

Fortnite fans,

Starting this week, we are doing things a little differently. Every other week we will drop new content without the need for an update. These will be called Content Updates. This new cadence allows us to iron out more complex bugs, while continuing to provide fun content every week.

Sweets you want, without the sugar rush. Materials go in, loot comes out.

Got materials to spare? Spend them at Vending Machines, now found in many locations across the island. Each Vending Machine offers 3 different deals, rarity and items chosen at random.

High Explosives v2 (Battle Royale)
Things are really BOOM-ing in v2 of this explosive mode! Remote Explosives and Guided Missiles added for even more ‘splosions.

Easter Egg Launcher (Save the World)
This is no joke, the Easter Egg Launcher really keeps things egg-splosive!

They certainly keep giving, don't they? World domination by giving players what they want - scandalous!

I attempted a Battle Royale the other day to see what the fuss was about, the queue was ridic though so didn't play in the end.

Unfortunately they had server issues which they had just fixed, so you must have tried joining just at the wrong time when everyone was trying to get back in. It's not normally like that, you usually just log in and get straight into a game.

Fair enough. I don't recall any issues when trying out the regular mode.

Fans are scrambling to solve the mystery of Fortnite's looming meteor
Could it be curtains for Tilted Towers?

Fortnite Battle Royale fans have been scrambling to make sense of mysterious new in-game phenomenon, all seemingly related to the strange meteor that's been hanging in the sky above the map for at least a week now.

While some players intially dismissed Fortnite Battle Royale's meteor as an extended April Fool's joke, other community members elected to take its continued - and rapidly enlarging - presence above the urban sprawl of Tilted Towers more seriously.

Fortnite's mysterious meteor, as snapped by Epic Games forum user ChlorophyteFTW.

The fact that the meteor's unheralded arrival was accompanied by the discovery of other oddities around the Battle Royale map, only served to further ignite community curiosity. Last week, for instance, non-interactive telescopes - all aimed at the meteor - began to appear across the map. More puzzling, however, was the revelation that certain in-game locations were seemingly causing controllers to emit specific rumbles.

It didn't take long for the community (with assistance from Reddit user vigilancefoetracer) to notice that the rumbling patterns - initially dismissed, rather unconvincingly, by the Fortnite Twitter team as a bug - actually spelled out a message in Morse code: SOS D5 418.

Fortnite's recently added telescopes, also via ChlorophyteFTW.

Currently, the most widely accepted interpretation of this array seems to be that the '418' refers to either April 2018 or April 18th, while D5 appears to be a grid reference pointing, suspiciously, back to Tilted Towers. The SOS, of course, is pretty self-explanatory.

There's also a separate, more outlandish theory that Fortnite's map is based on Poland, featuring many parallel locations. In this scenario, Tilted Towers' position appears to correlate with Polish city Poznan, home of the Morasko Meteorite Reserve. And then there's this:

As a result, fans now believe that Epic has something dramatic planned for the end of Fortnite's currently ongoing (and notably space-themed) Season 3, due to reach its conclusion on April 30th. Many are speculating that, when the time is right, the mysterious meteor will smash into Tilted Towers, levelling one of the most controversial areas on Fortnite's map.

Tilted Towers, for the uninitiated, is a busy sprawl of skyscrapers - ideal for easy sniper kills - that a lot of players believe is sucking the life out of Fortnite. Not only does it contain plentiful loot, immediately drawing players toward it, its central location makes it a popular, and easy destination to reach, reducing player counts elsewhere on the map. As such, there are perfectly legitimate gameplay reasons why Epic might want it gone - and a meteor-themed in-game extinction event is a fun, immersive way of eradicating it.

Epic, however, is now remaining tightlipped about Fortnite's recently uncovered mysteries, happy to let fan speculation continue unhindered until their secrets are ready to be revealed.

    • While spectating a player that fires a missile, you will now follow the missile instead of the player.

    • We've made some data layout optimizations in order to improve load times and performance. Load times reduced by 25-30 seconds as a result of these changes on Xbox One and around 10 seconds on PS4. On both platforms, we expect to see fewer issues with geometry or cosmetics failing to load in time, and FPS drops during skydiving. The Xbox One download will be larger than normal in this release as a result of these optimizations. We're working to minimize the impact of this type of optimization in future releases. - Developer Comment

I've played a few rounds of Battle Royale recently and enjoyed it but wow I'm rubbish. Really looking forward to the insta-fort-nade that's really going help my inability to speed build and shoot. I wonder if it's editable by all or if said fort is only editable by you and your team-mates?

Heya folks,

It’s been no secret that over the past 24 hours we’ve been experiencing issues with our services that have prevented many of you from playing Battle Royale and Save the World. We’re sorry. We know how frustrating this has been.

We messed up here. As thanks for being awesome and patient, we’re doing the following:
  • For Battle Royale players, this weekend we’ll be offering a Back Bling gift that you can pick up in the store for free.
  • For our Save the World folks, this weekend we will be offering a Troll Stash Llama in the loot tab for free.
Next week, we will be granting a pack of Battle Stars to our Battle Royale players and Seasonal Gold to the Save the World players. This will require brief additional downtime, so we will be including it as a part of our planned update next week.

We’ll have a detailed postmortem of this week’s issues, and more information about how we will improve services for you in the future. Look for this later next week.

See you out on the Battle Bus and Saving the World,

Fortnite Team

The free Bling backpack is already in the Battle Royale store, grab it when you can.

As a follow-on to the issues they had, the 50 v 50 limited time mode (LTM) will now start next week.
