Apparently it's reminiscent of BF2142's Titan game mode.

Nice one Halo. I've heard a lot about the Titan game mode coming but never really knew what it was all about. Interesting and look forward to that.

My guess is that it'll be carriers either side of an island that we fight over then a mad scramble for boats and heli's to board the other craft once automated defences are blocked. Followed by a close quarters rumble in one of the carriers.

I can see why the BF2142 capabilities could easily mean that Dice can do a Swars Battlefront....

Battlefield 4 Naval Strike: Release Date, New Weapons and Vehicle, Carrier Assault Game Mode [UPDATE: March 30th Release]

DICE revealed today that the Naval Strike DLC will be releasing in late March [UPDATE: March 30th per the screen cap below] for Premium users, and since then more information has been shown on the relevant Battlefield page

Within Naval strike will be four new maps with wide variety in them, 5 new weapons, submarines for commanders, hovercraft, and the anticipated aspect, the new Carrier Assault mode, which is a re-image of the fan-favorite mode from BF2142, and one that many were hoping would make a re-appearance in Battlefield 4. Well it turns out it will be, but on the massive frame of a carrier ship, rather than a behemoth airship (though both are cool).

Here are the details:

* 5 weapons all-new to Battlefield 4
* Introducing the amphibious hovercraft vehicle
* Carrier Assault game mode which is a re-imagining of the classic Battlefield 2142 Titan Mode
* 10 new assignments with unlocks for each

* 4 all-new multiplayer maps set in the South China Sea
- Lost Islands
- Nansha Strike
- Wave Breaker
- Operation Mortar

* 2 additional gadgets
- 3GL (3 grenade launcher) attachment for the Assault class
- Anti-Heli Mine; an aircraft disabling projectile for the Engineer class

For those of you newer to the BF franchise and want some info on how titan mode worked in BF2142, check out this video. Though details of how the mode will work are not yet available, expect it to be somewhat similar to the BF2142 mode, but of course not exactly the same.
