Blacklight: Retribution, the free-to-play shooter on the PC from Zombie Studios will be coming to the PS4.

The fast-paced, free-to-play online, multiplayer game is set in the near future and allows players to customize their characters and weapons in numerous ways.

Once on the battlefield you can enable Hyper Reality Visor (HRV) technology to see through the entire battlefield, find your enemies and coordinate attacks with teammates. If more firepower is needed, you can refill on health and ammunition from weapon depots on the battlefield. Thes also let you deploy a Hard Suit from space. Hardsuits are a human-driven mech built for dealing death to your opponents, and employ either the railgun or minigun to assure your victory.

Blacklight: Retribution comes with 10 maps ranging from the urban war zone of Deadlock to operational training facility of Helodeck. There are also 9 game modes, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Domination, Netwar, Kill Confirmed and Onslaught.

Blacklight: Retribution launches on PS4 in Europe today after short delay

No PS Plus sub needed for F2P FPS

Free-to-play first-person shooter Blacklight: Retribution launches on PlayStation 4 in Europe today.

Zombie Studios' game was intended as a PS4 launch title on these shores, but suffered a last minute delay. It's not available to download from the PlayStation Store yet - expect it to launch later alongside the regular update.

"This is a really great time for our studio, and we know that our current fans and newcomers alike will enjoy the game as much as we do," said Zombie chief Jared Gerritzen.

Like other F2P games on PS4, a PlayStation Plus subscription is not needed.

Blacklight: Retribution gets PS Plus Stater Pack, exits beta
Free-to-player shooter out of beta testing tomorrow

Free-to-play PS4 shooter Blacklight Retribution will be out of beta on Tuesday, as developer Zombie Studios announces plans to introduce a new 'PS Plus Starter Pack'.

The pack, which will be offered for free to current PS Plus subscribers, includes a Burstfire SMG, Revival Injector, and 250 ZCoins to spend on PlayStation Store.

To retrieve the equipment PS Plus subs just need to equip them via the customization menus, although Zombie is yet to confirm when the content will be released, saying only that it's coming "in the near future".

Now exiting its lengthy beta phase, the first-person shooter will also receive Trophy support, with a current total of 20 Trophies to be introduced this week and more to be added in later updates.

The developer has also noted that "the Zcoin you purchased during the Beta period will be refunded to you as promised".

Stats and other progress made during the beta phase will be retained as the game enters full release status.

As a free to play release this isn't a bad one, would have paid for it though
