A new version of PlayStation Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed Liberation will be released for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 next year, Ubisoft has announced.

The remake's existance was revealed last week when logos for a number of Ubisoft's upcoming digital titles were leaked online.

Once again developed by Ubisoft Sofia, Liberation HD has been reworked graphically to appear closer to Assassin's Creed 3. Audio, AI and facial animations have also been reworked.

15 new missions have been added, while some touchscreen puzzles have been removed.

A number of the existing missions have been re-worked, too, with better free-running paths and rejigged game elements.

If it's released cross buy with Vita I will buy it, but seeing as its multi platform this wont happen. Might just get the vita version once this is released as the price will plummet.

Ive got the vita version and its a bloody good game. Not as good as 3 obviously, but unbelievable that theyve managed to fit in a full assassins creed game in a portable. I really like this. Got multiplayer too.:o

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD release date announced

Greetings, PlayStation Assassins! We’re very excited to announce that Assassins Creed Liberation HD will be coming to PS3 via PlayStation Store on 15th January 2014.

When we set out to do Liberation HD, our objective was simple: improve upon what worked on the Vita and adapt the gameplay and missions to be the most fun and enjoyable they could be. As a result, each mission has been reworked in order to improve its pacing, and the challenge it poses to the player.

Liberation is set in New Orleans between 1765 and 1780, in the period between the end of the French and Indian War, up to the middle of the American Revolution. Liberation tells the story of Aveline; a female Assassin of mixed French and African heritage. Brought up in a world of privilege and contrasts, Aveline becomes a strong-willed woman and an avid opponent of slavery.

Recruited to the Assassins by an escaped slave, Aveline joins the struggle against the Templars as they try to take control of New Orleans following France’s handover of the city to Spain. Striking hard and fast, she is instrumental in the Louisiana Rebellion that forces the Spanish and Templars out of the city for nearly two years before they return in force.

In addition to the HD upgrade, we also have new missions specific to Aveline’s Personas. Aveline is the first Assassin with such clearly different character types — Assassin, Lady, and Servant. Each persona has its own advantages and disadvantages when playing missions, and each generates a different reaction from the city life around Aveline. That’s a total of 15 missions delving deeper into Aveline’s story.

If you haven’t had a chance to play this chapter of Assassins Creed on Vita, or simply want to play Liberation on the big screen, we hope you’ll check out Assassins Creed Liberation HD on 15th January. It will be priced €19.99/£15,99, though pre-order today and save 25% (€14.99/£11.99).

See you on the Bayou.

Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD out now on PS3 – see the new trailer

Aveline de Grandpré is no stranger to PlayStation Assassins! Making her debut as the first playable female Assassin on the PlayStation Vita a little over a year ago, Aveline has quickly grown to be one of the most popular and praised Assassins in the series. She even took on a few missions on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag (and if you haven’t played those yet, be sure to download them for free from the AC4 main menu!).

Now, Aveline will arrive on the PlayStation 3 in the fully-upgraded Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD!

AC Liberation HD includes a complete graphical overhaul, fully-remastered audio and all-new never-before-played missions designed to engulf you even further into Aveline’s world! For the first time on PS3, you’ll be able to use Aveline’s trademark whip in both combat and navigation. Stalk secretly while hiding in plain sight, dressed in any of Aveline’s three disguises. Dash effortlessly through the trees of the bayou, across verdant jungles and Mayan ruins or perch over the sprawling port city of New Orleans.

Don’t miss out on your chance to play as one of our most deadly Assassins yet!

I started the demo, and didn't think much of it on the ps3. I am more likely to buy dlc for black flag than fork out £16 for that.
