    Hi all,

You may know me from such forums as...sorry wrong program ;)

30 Year old gamer seeks 'Senior Citizenship' in this fledgling community, to spend evenings in with and maybe more, must have GSOH!

I have played games for as long as I can remember, my first experience of computer games was Pilot, Defender, Asteroids and Chuckie Egg on the BBC Micro, my console history then follows like this...I love making lists...

Acorn Archimedes...Oh Zarch, what were you all about!?
    Gameboy
    NES
    SNES
    N64
    PlayStation
    PlayStation2
    PlayStation3
    PSP
    Wii
    DS Lite
    PC/Laptop
XBox360 - Very disappointing console, duly sold to finance...
    PSVita

And so to favourite games, wow this is difficult but here goes, in no particular order:

    Metal Gear Solid Series
    Vagrant Story
    Chuckie Egg
    BioShock Series
    Ico
    Shadow of the Colossus
    Final Fantasy Series
    Heavy Rain
    Pro Evo & FIFA Series
    MLB: The Show Series
    Portal 2
    Resident Evil Series
    Half Life 2
    Counter Strike Source
    Killzone 3
    COD4: Modern Warfare
    Deus Ex Series
    Gran Turismo Series
    Super Mario World
    GoldenEye
    Perfect Dark
    TimeSplitters 2

Ok, this could go on for a long time, need to stop now!

I was introduced to seniorgamers.net by my good friend Torquemada, I have had a look round the place and really like it, feels like a nice new cardigan and a warm cuppa tea!

Anyway, I hope you feel I am just incontinent enough to join your merry band...let the roasting begin!

Hello hun! Long time no see! I keep seeing you crop up and around the interwebs. Instant vouch from me for two reasons.

1: I know wilksky and like him
    2: Woohoo TimeSplitters! :D

I'm very surprised at your EggBox 360 comment. I thought as a console it was quite a strong contender suffering only because of lack of support for it's HD movie system. Although I don't actually own one nor have ever played on one.

Welcome to the new place, wilskywalker. :D

Excellent intro BTW, lots of detail which is what we like to see.

I remember you being into the MGS series. I really only played the very first one on the PS2 (I think?) I found the cut scenes a bit too long for my liking but the gameplay was fine.

Acorn Achimedes? Wow, not many I know outside of education had that. I loved them from using them in the classroom with pupils and I ended up buying a RISC PC600. Played Doom and Robocod on it. I enjoyed the former but the latter was disappointing as there were no saves!

Do you still have Killzone 3? If so we have regular sessions on Wednesdays and you'd be more than welcome to come along.

What are your main games at the moment? Do you have BF3? We've just got our own BF3 server today and hope it'll attract some new members to this place.

I was going to mention you being made a Chums by OAP if you go for full membership here but I see that you already are one and aren't a full member anymore.

Anyway, it's a big vouch from me for wilskywalker joining the ranks of the Senior Citizens.

I have had several 360, the great thing about it is its comms and party chat which can be used before during and after gaming without any loss of comms, the down side is £30 a year to play p2p gaming also the lack of bluray. As a once 360 fan boy I can tell you the 360 isn't close to the PS3 gaming wise. I still play exclusive titles on mine but only once in a while.

Hello matey, thank you very much! Good to be here! :D

Hi Abby! It has been a while! I hope my 'croppings up' were all of the wholesome family variety!? Thank you very much for the vouch.

1: I know you too...and I like you too!
2: Amen...will we ever see the likes of TimeSplitters again...lets hope so.

Ah yes, the 360. When my launch PS3 Phat YLOD'ed I bought a PS3 Slim whilst it was being fixed...I then received £350 of Game vouchers through the post instead of my old Phat PS3...the 360 was part of the buying frenzy that ensued!

I gave it a fair run I think, my justification for buying it was, firstly it was free and secondly I 'needed' it for the exclusives, unfortunately it turned out there really weren't any decent exclusives, it was nice to play The Orange Box in none lag'o'vision though and I have the 360 to thank for introducing me to Mass Effect so some good came of it. Ultimately though it just gathered dust, I see no justification for the £40 per year they wanted for me to play online either, they certainly offer nothing extra over PSN, so when the PSVita was announced it was a no brainer.

Loving the Vita by the way, Gravity Rush and Escape plan are awesome!

    p.s. Tapatalk compatbility...good call!!!

Hi Martok, thanks for the warm welcome buddy, it's good to be here, and thanks for the vouch!

Ah MGS, I would still highly recommend picking up the whole series and giving it another go. The first (strictly third) one is in PSOne Classics on the store and still holds up well by today's standards, 2 & 3 have just been given an HD makeover and number 4 is just epic!

Yes the Achimedes, great machine, my father was a teacher and so he had one at home for work purposes...and so I used it for gaming purposes, I spent literally days playing Arcade Soccer on it...which incidentally took so long to load you needed to start it up, go and have dinner and then hope it was loaded by the time you got back...and people actually moan about loading times being too many seconds now lol!

Yes I do still have Killzone 3, one of my favourite online games, will definitely have to join in, sounds like a plan, great to see it is supported here, very under rated shooter I think. Unfortunately I don't have BF3, it got some fairly luke warm reviews and having played the beta it just didn't really float my boat.

Yes, I am now have Chum status at OAPs, I posted there and checked it had been changed before I posted here.

Again, many thanks for the warm welcome and vouch!

Hey buddy, yes the Nexus 7, it will go very nicely with my Galaxy Nexus, gonna get the 16GB model with £15 Google Play credit, can't wait. I'm running a rooted Jelly Bean build from Google IO on my Galaxy Nexus currently, very very cool, loving Google Now!

Currently making my way (very slowly) through Skyrim on PS3 and Gravity Rush on the Vita.

Chuckie Egg was amazing, I spent hours and hours as a kid on that game, loved it. I remember the first time the big bird came out of the cage and chased you round the screen, classic!

I never really understood why the 360 pad wasn't symmetrical, much prefer the DualShock3. Having owned both machines though, I can safely say I agree the PS3 is vastly better and also has far better exclusives!

Bring on... 'Beyond: Two Souls' & 'The Last Of Us'!

First of big vouch from me.

Secondly, glad you decided to pop by Wil

And thirdly, the 360 is disappointing!!!?!?! :o Wash your mouth out young man!! In all seriousness, the problem Ive found personally is owning too many consoles. At one point I had them all, and you cant help but to have your favourites, so its not long before one or two of them are gathering dust. I do like the Wii, its something completely different and I really enjoyed a couple of the games on there (Zak & Wiki, Medal Of Honor, Zelda, Res Evil 4). The controls were a bit hit and miss, and theres too much shovelware. Same with the DS; really enjoyed the Professor Layton & Zelda games, but as my girls have found out the hard way the contents doesnt live up to the packaging on a lot of the games. Even though Ive whittled down the number of consoles Ive got now, I still find either the PS3 or 360 being neglected for a period. Dont know why, but I find it hard to not remain focused on one. At this moment I have this all consuming passion to break 100K gamerscore, and Im so close now. My next goal is to become level 20 on the PSN :ugeek:  , and doing the maths I have the required no of games to probably do it.

As I said though Wil, really glad you stopped over

Welcome Wil, good to see you

It's a vouch from me  I loved Chuckie Egg too, my step-brother had it on the BBC micro. No attribute clash, yay! :D We've played online before and always good to see a fellow midlander!

I have Portal 2 and have played it co-op with Dudleydacat and Yinkin and it was hilarious. I haven't told Yinkin yet (shhhh!) but want to get some of the trophies where you drop him off light bridges whilst he's gesturing for example   Anyways, let me know if you fancy some co-op.

If you have KZ3 it would be great to see you next Wednesday for our regular weekly fragfest on Wednesday? You just have to keep your eye behind you otherwise you get brutally murdered by Shroud! Oh hang on that Uncharted 3, we play as a team on KZ3

......and on the subject of Metal Gear Solid.....

Yes very much an acquired taste, like marmite you either love it or hate it. Im on the side of loving it. Bonkers jap story aside, it has some of the most inventive and truly original gameplay of any game. The beauty of achievements/trophies means that if your a whore like me then your forced on a road of discovery so you can unlock every little reward. Where else can you get an achievement/trophy for making the hero vomit or masturbate?!?!? :o

The MGS HD collection is a worthy purchase.. Its missing Metal Gear Solid on the PS1, but it has the two mega drive games, the PSP game and the two PS2 games, with all the additional content plus trophy/achievements. It is missing the MGS 3 online game which is a shame, but as the servers are now closed on MGS4 thats not that shocking I suppose.

I remember Wil telling me how he unlocked Altiar on MGS4, and explained how to do it. Wasnt a good enough player to do it myself, but I mention it here as one of the many things the game did; that specialising in the hidden easter eggs. In fact theres more eggs in the MGS series than anywhere else. Ive got a couple of the Prima walkthrough books and they are huge.

Anyway, I'd recommend the MGS HD collection to anyone. Ive got the PS1 game on digital download, and Ive been playing it again on my PSP and PS3 (when are they going to release the Vita patch 1.80!! ), but of course no trophies. See the beauty of trophies is rather than just try and complete the game as quickly as possible, they push you to try and do new and different things, things you might not have even known existed. Thats always been MGS' biggest flaw, as a lot of the stuff Kojimaput in was left for people to discover, and it was never in any of the game manuals or instructions. Of course now YouTube and gaming websites reveal all, which does remove some of the magic, but then its down to the player if he wants spoilers or not. I'd recommend giving the MGS HD collection a look, 5 games for about £20 cant be bad :D

Really didnt go much on the demo of Gravity Rush. Love Escape Plan though, but my personal faves are Uncharted Golden Abyss (easily as good as its big brothers) and Unit 13 (which is just the most addictive quick thrill shooter).

Loved the demo just not had cash to buy it, Escape plan is great, Uncharted as you have said matches its bigger brothers in most ways, I have Unit 13 and have played coop with a friend a few times. Frobisher says has to be the greatest mini game mix ever uf you haven't played it get it I can't get enough of it.

    Hey Ace, how's you buddy!?

Unfortunately I have since traded Portal 2 in...the woes of a low income gamer! Hopefully see you online in KZ3!

Hey Sprijt, many thanks for the vouch buddy, good to be here! :D

Hey buddy, how's you!? Really glad you let me know about Senior Gamers...already loving it and only been here a few hours, it has re-ignited my interest in the online community side of my gaming. Thanks for the big vouch too matey!

Ah...sorry about the 360 comments, I know you're a fan, just can't recommend it myself after my experience of the console. In fairness the console itself is pretty nice and I like the NXE and avatars, it just isn't supported well enough by Microsoft in the core gamer and exclusives category.

I agree on the fact certain consoles will get neglected, it is nice to have choice but in the end it is only human to have a favourite and ever since the original MGS inspired me to pick up a PSX, that has been PlayStation for me.

Hey Dogstar, how's you buddy, good to see you too! Thanks for the vouch matey!

Chuckie Egg was a bona fide classic in my book, great game. We need to stick together us 'middle-of-the-landers'

Unfortunately as I said above I have now traded Portal 2 in, but I will definitely be joining you guys on Killzone 3.

    Hello again matey lol...

In my humble opinion the Metal Gear Solid series is one of the greatest series of games ever made and anyone who considers themselves a gamer should at least give it a try...you might like it!

It was a little disappointing to see MGS1 left out of the HD collection, though it is understandable as it is already available on the store...my hope is that it's omission could mean a full HD remake of the original, that would be an absolutely essential purchase, I completed that game so many times when I first played it I could have drawn you a blueprint of the entire game from memory!

I am very much looking forward to playing through the MGS HD collection though, just need to get Skyrim finished first. Phew

Gravity Rush is a must my friend, great game.

I was very happy to see Tapatalk compatibility, it just makes it so much easier to keep up with the forum on mobile.

SNR + Tapatalk = Win

Ooh, Journey. I played the Beta and downloaded the demo for my daughter which she quite liked. I was toying with buying the full version for her though I know she's keen on getting Lego Pirates of the Caribbean.

Well you've had vouches from various people and you're well known by many here so I think it's time to do the honours.

Welcome to the community, [SNR] wilskywalker. You should now see all before you on the forums. Do come and say hello in the chat system. You may also wear the [SNR] tag in online games. :)

I'll chuck you an invite to the Killzone 3 clan (if you're in a clan already you'll have to remove yourself first) and I hope to see you on the game on Wednesday.
